We love the Glenville Queen!
It's one of our favorite diners so when we took our nephew to see the Rise of the Guardian movie last Sunday night we decided to stop off afterwards for some desert.
For my complete first review of the Glenville Queen ...please click here.
We ordered one large strawberry ice cream with whip creme, the same cinnamon horns from the last review (sorry no pic this time) and a piece of coconut creme pie.
When we arrived at the diner a large party of about 12 people had just walked in right in front of us. We were all standing around waiting for a table and I noticed that there was only one piece of coconut creme pie left in the case.
I was joking around about how that was the only thing I had been talking about all night...how I really wanted that pie. The hostess over heard me and she took the piece of pie out of the case and set it aside for me! I thought that was so fantastic!!
Our service was fast and the waitress was very friendly. Overall we had an excellent time and the whole bill came to $12.00 including coffee.
Again, I would rate this diner a 5 out of 5. (5 being the best and 1 being the worst)

Last week my sis, parents and I decided to stop off for a quick lunch at the Capital City Diner in Albany. My sis and I had never been there before. Our parents had and recommended it highly. They had told us how good the food is and how clean the restaurant was. We were looking forward to a nice lunch.

Our lunch started off by having a very polite young man come to our table as our server. He was very courteous and attentive. He brought my dad and I some coffee and the menus for all.
My mom decided on matzo ball soup, my sis got a meatloaf sandwich, my dad got a hamburger and I got a grilled swiss on rye.
The service was fast. The food was delicious. My grilled cheese was very tasty and the fries were excellent, crispy and hot.
My mother loved her soup and the matzo ball was tasty. It was soft and very flavorful. My sis did enjoy her meatloaf but it did have oregano in it. We are not used to oregano in our meatloaf so that was an interesting flavor. My dad's hamburger was quite good.
I did think that the prices were a bit higher than the average diner. The plate of fries were $3.00 and I would have been much happier with less fries as just a side on the plate with my sandwich.
Being from Syracuse, NY we have a funny tradition when we all go to a diner together, we always turn the plates over to see if they were made at Syracuse China. We were all delighted to find that the plates at Capital City Diner were in face made at the Syracuse China factory in Syracuse, NY! A silly tradition but a fun one!
I did not go to the ladies room but the restaurant overall was very clean and tidy.
I rate this Diner a 4 out of 5. (5 being the best and 1 being the worst)
