Northside Diner - Bennington VT

Well, here it is, my first Diner post. I'll bet you were thinking that I would be reviewing a Diner in NY because that's where I live. Well, yes, I will be reviewing mostly Diners in NY state but today we tried a Diner in Vermont.
So here it goes....

Northside Diner
132 Northside Drive
Bennington, VT

My family and I decided to take a drive today to Vermont. We wanted to find Covered Bridges, we did. We found four and along the way we also found the Northside Diner. It was just a little before noon and we were ready for some lunch. We had never tried the Northside Diner before so we went in.

This is a small to medium size diner with tables, booths and a long counter with diner stools. The cook told us to grab a table anywhere so we sat at a booth that was comfy but one of the seats had been taped together across the middle.

The waitress showed up in a few minutes and took our drink order, 2 coffees and 2 ice waters. The menu was mostly breakfast and lunch fare with a small dinner section. They are open every day for breakfast and lunch. They are open on Friday's only for dinner.

The waitress came back with our drinks and then we ordered. We got a Fish Fry, a hamburger and two Ham and Onion Quiches.

The food came in a reasonable amount of time. The Fish Fry was excellent, not alot of batter on the fish and the fries were very tasty (not to salty). The hamburger was delicious!! It came with chips and it was cooked perfectly. The bun on the other hand was terrible. It was hard and seemed to have been heated in a microwave.

The Ham and Onion Quiches were more like an egg bake. They were shaped like a brownie and had no crust. There was a very tiny amount of ham and cheese sprinkled on the top of them and overall not much flavor. They came with about a cup of  tossed salad (lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and onions) on the side.

The price for the fish fry and hamburger was quite reasonable but considering the quiche was not really a quiche and had such a scant amount of ham, it was overpriced.

The waitress was nice but not too attentive. I asked her for extra napkins and she brought me a tiny bowl of lemons. My sis wanted a refill on her water but the waitress never came back after she left the check. She was the only waitress but there were not that many customers for her to forget all about us.

The decor was quaint and rustic but the whole diner needed a good scrub down. There were ant traps under the table and an ant was crawling on my dad! The bathroom was clean and smelled nice but it too needed a makeover.

If I were to rate this Diner, I would give it a 2 out of 5. (5 being the best and 1 being the worst)
