The Glenville Queen Diner - Glenville, NY (part 2)

We love the Glenville Queen!

It's one of our favorite diners so when we took our nephew to see the Rise of the Guardian movie last Sunday night we decided to stop off afterwards for some desert.

For my complete first review of the Glenville Queen ...please click here.

We ordered one large strawberry ice cream with whip creme, the same cinnamon horns from the last review (sorry no pic this time) and a piece of coconut creme pie.

When we arrived at the diner a large party of about 12 people had just walked in right in front of us. We were all standing around waiting for a table and I noticed that there was only one piece of coconut creme pie left in the case.

I was joking around about how that was the only thing I had been talking about all night...how I really wanted that pie. The hostess over heard me and she took the piece of pie out of the case and set it aside for me! I thought that was so fantastic!!

Our service was fast and the waitress was very friendly. Overall we had an excellent time and the whole bill came to $12.00 including coffee.

Again, I would rate this diner a 5 out of 5. (5 being the best and 1 being the worst)

Latham 76 Diner - Latham, NY

Saturday morning my sis and I decided to take our niece to the Latham 76 Diner in Latham, NY. We've been to this diner before and always had a very lovely time.

Latham 76 Diner
722 New Loudon Rd.
Latham, NY 12110

We arrived at the diner around 9:30ish and were seated right away by a very friendly hostess. Almost immediately our waitress came over with menus and asked if we wanted coffee.

The waitress then brought us a children's menu for my niece, Catherine. After looking over the menus we ordered chocolate chip pancakes and milk for Catherine, hash and "Greek" toast for my sis and I got eggs, toast with homefries.
I forgot to take a photo before we began eating but here is a testament to how good the food is, we all finished all of our breakfast! It was delicious! The toast was thick and a bit sweet. It was excellent, it smelled like fresh bread right out of the oven with that homemade yeast smell. The home fries were crisp and very flavorful. My niece enjoyed her pancakes. They had lots of chocolate chips and were shaped a bit like Micky Mouse, she really loved that! My sisters hash was delicious and went really well with the "Greek" toast!

The whole meal including my coffee was only $13.60 which I thought was a wonderful bargain!

Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She took the time to chat with us a little bit at the table even thought the restaurant was packed with customers coming and going!

We stopped in to the bathroom before we left and found it to be very well stocked and clean.

If I were to rate this Diner, I would give it a 5 out of 5. (5 being the best and 1 being the worst) We will be going back to the 76!!

Papa Pete's - Bennington, VT

ok, so we made our way back to Vermont this week! We had such a wonderful time searching for Covered Bridges that we decided to make another day trip of it. This time we went with our good "road trip" friend Laurie.

We took a chance on Papa Pete's to eat lunch and boy were we pleased!

Papa Pete's
1104 Woodford Road
Bennington, Vermont

This place was fantastic from the moment we walked in. It's a small, bright and cheerful diner right out of the main part of town. We were greeted by the friendly server and the owner who was welcoming, friendly and funny. She really made our experice an unforgetable one! She took the time to stand and chat with us and make us feel at home. We actually felt like we were "regulars!"
Papa Pete's has lots of comfy booths as well as a diner bar. One of the first things I noticed after we were seated is how clean everything was. The tables and even the floor was spotless (yes, I peeked at the floor!!)

The waitress came right over and took our drink order (two ice teas and a water). After we had a minute to look at the menu she was back taking our order. My sis and I got the same; turkey, cheddar and cranberry sauce on sourdough bread. Laurie got chicken salad on white.
The food came quite quickly and WoW! it was delicious! The sourdough bread was crusty and so flavorful. The cranberry sauce was sweet and tangy in contrast to the tender turkey. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft inside. I didn't try the chicken salad but Laurie said that it was very good.

The bathroom was clean and very well stocked. And it had a charming tiny sink. The whole diner was decorated with a whimsical, country decor. It was very inviting overall. This diner was the perfect place to stop for lunch on our "unofficial Covered Bridge" tour!!

If I were to rate this Diner, I would give it a 5 out of 5. (5 being the best and 1 being the worst)

The Glenville Queen Diner - Glenville, NY

Today my sis and I decided to go to the Glenville Queen Diner for a late breakfast/early lunch.

Glenville Queen Diner
210 Saratoga Road
Scotia, NY

We arrived there about 11:00am and were greeted by a very friendly hostess. She seated us at a window seat in a nice roomy booth. The Glenville Queen also has tables and a diner bar along with the many booths.
Our waitress came right over brought us water and asked if we wanted something to drink. I ordered coffee which she brought over very quickly and it was nice and hot!

She gave us a few minutes and then we ordered a breakfast sandwich and a meatball sub. We also decided to get a cinnamon horn to split.

My breakfast sandwich was delicious and hot. The roll was soft but crusty on the outside. It has a fried egg, cheese and bacon. You can also choose ham or sausage. The homefries were soft and a bit crispy and seasoned perfectly! Yummy!
My sisters meatball sub was also delicious. It had melted cheese on top of a large crusty sub roll and 3 large meatballs! I tried it and the meatball was very tasty.
The waitress asked us if we wanted our cinnamon horn toasted and we said yes. It was a little "bit of heaven", sooooo good. Cinnamon-ny and sugary with flaky pastry! So Good! The gave us little pats of butter to put on it. Which we did, but it was so good with or without the butter!

The Glenville Queen has the most amazing desserts, pies and cakes. They have a revolving case to show them off as you walk in the door. I've gotten the Coconut Cream Pie before and it is beyond fantastic!

Overall the diner is very clean, bright and cheery! I would recommend a window seat if you can get one! They have two bathrooms one near the booths and one in the main dining room. I tried the one in the main dining room and it was very clean and well stocked. The other bathroom had a broken stall door.

This diner serves lots of regulars and groups of diners (seniors) who come there to eat and socialize. The staff are very friendly and accommodating! Their bus boys are fantastic; quick and thorough!

Here I am...
Here is my sis....

If I were to rate this Diner, I would give it a 5 out of 5. (5 being the best and 1 being the worst)
